Ardent Leisure has appointed a new chief executive for Dreamworld, with the company announcing John Osborne as their new CEO of the theme parks division.

Mr Osborne, who has held a number of executive positions at several tourism and hospitality companies in the past three decades, will take over from acting theme parks CEO Nicole Noye next month.

The appointment comes after the departure of CEO Craig Davidson, who left the post in July following the first sitting of a coronial inquest into the deaths of four guests at the park in October 2016.

"John brings excellent experience in business transformation, strategy execution, government and private sector relations and has strong leadership skills," Ardent chairman Gary Weiss said in a statement.

Osborne will step into the role before a third two-week sitting of the coronial inquest into the deaths of Cindy Low, Kate Goodchild, her brother Luke Dorsett and his partner Roozi Araghi is held in mid-November.

The four tourists died when the Thunder River Rapids ride malfunctioned, causing two rafts to collide and flip.

A second sitting of the inquest concluded last Friday at the Southport Coroners Court. A third sitting begins on November 12.

Mr Weiss said Ardent remained committed to implementing any recommendations from the coronial inquest in consultation with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and the theme park industry.

Mr Osborne said he was confident of reinvigorating the reputation of the theme park, which has made significant losses in the past two financial years following the disaster.

"Dreamworld has always made an important contribution to the Gold Coast and Queensland economy and played a significant role in the region's growth and development," Mr Osborne said.

"I look forward to working with our staff to ensure we build upon the significant safety initiatives in place and set the standard for safety in theme parks in Australia and around the world."
