WHEN WILL SYDNEY'S CBD LIGHT RAIL BE FINISHED?

Representatives from Transport for NSW, consortium ALTRAC and construction sub-contractor Acciona would like passengers to be travelling to the eastern suburbs by December 2019.

But that's not going to happen.

ORIGINALLY IT WAS TO BE FINISHED BY MARCH 2019?

Yes. That was the original official completion date when the contract was signed.

The premier was telling voters as late as April 2018 it was still her "intention" to see works completed by 2019.

SO WHEN DID THE COMPLETION DATE BECOME MARCH 2020?

Later in April 2018 it emerged the government had been told the end date had been pushed back 12 months.

TfNSW appeared to suggest on Thursday's inquiry ALTRAC's advice about the new date came as early as October 2017. But that advice has changed again.

SO NOW IT WON'T BE BUILT UNTIL MAY 2020?

Acciona Infrastructure Australia managing director Bede Noonan told Thursday's inquiry it was "quite clear that we notified in August" the new completion date was May 2020. ALTRAC agreed.

But TfNSW doesn't like that and wants the numbers run again.

"A lot of the assumptions just don't stand up in their program," TfNSW's Stephen Troughton said. "The timeline for the project is constantly moving."
