South Australian independent retailers have called on the government to scrap its proposed deregulation of shop trading hours, which they say will hurt local business.

The Liberal government has introduced a bill that would allow shops flexibility in their opening hours, but it hasn't yet passed state parliament.

"The uncertainty surrounding shop trading hours is hurting South Australia's family-owned small businesses," SA Independent Retailers chief Colin Shearing said on Monday.
