West Australian games industry businesses will benefit from a $16.7 million injection as the state Labor government sets its sights on the $124 billion global market.

Innovation and ICT Minister Dave Kelly has unveiled the new games industry growth pilot, which will offer $5000 grants for individuals to travel to major games industry events to showcase the state's industry on a global stage.

"The global digital games market was valued at $124 billion in 2016. The WA games sector is small but emerging, with talented people who have enormous potential for growth, and that is why the McGowan Government has introduced this new pilot." Mr Kelly said in a statement on Wednesday.
