Australian funds to be marketed in Asia

The parliament has passed draft laws which could allow Australian investment funds to tap into Asia's expanding middle class and ultra-rich.

Australian investment funds will be allowed to be marketed across Asia through a new so-called passport agreement.

Legislation cleared parliament on Thursday which will give Australians opportunity to market funds to Asia's wealthy through the Asia Region Funds Passport.

The agreement has already been signed up to by New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Thailand.
