Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange:

AGI - AINSWORTH GAME TECHNOLOGY - down 73 cents, or 37.6 per cent, at $1.21

Ainsworth Game Technology has slashed its full-year earnings outlook by 37 per cent to $36 million, after the company's bottom line was hit by increased competition, and delays in regulatory approval.

AMP - AMP LTD - up 2 cents, or 0.5 per cent, to $4.14

AMP has appointed former CBA CEO David Murray as its new chairman while also saying that it "strenuously denies" recommendations it face criminal charges over the fee-for-no-service scandal.

MQG - MACQUARIE GROUP - up 26 cents, or 0.2 per cent, at $108.01

Macquarie Group has lifted full-year profit 15 per cent to a record $2.56 billion and expects to report a similar profit next year.

NST - NORTHERN STAR - up five cents, or 0.8 per cent, at $6.63

NCM - NEWCREST MINING - up 12 cents, or 0.6 per cent, at $21.55

EVN - EVOLUTION - up one cent, or 0.3 per cent, at $3.31

Gold stocks have surged after the US central bank reassured investors increases to interest rates would be gradual, and geopolitical uncertainties are also providing support for the safe-haven metal.
