A preview of next week's Australian economic data, April 24 to April 28:

CORELOGIC CAPITAL CITY HOUSE PRICES

Due: Monday

Period: Week ending April 23

Last result: The auction clearance rate across capital cities slowed to 78.8 per cent with a quiet weekend due to the Easter break, but remained well above the 67.4 per cent recorded at the same time last year, according to data from market information company CoreLogic.

ABS CONSUMER PRICE INDEX

Due: Wednesday

Period: March quarter

Market forecast: Headline CPI to have risen 0.6 per cent for an annual rate of 2.3 per cent. Underlying inflation to have been 0.5 per cent in the quarter and 1.8 per cent over the year.

Last result: The consumer price index rose 0.5 per cent in the December quarter, missing market expectations of a 0.7 per cent rise. Underlying inflation was 1.55 per cent over the year, after a quarterly rise of 0.4 per cent.

ABS TRADE PRICE INDEX

Due: Thursday

Period: March quarter

Market forecast:

Last result: Export prices rose 12.4 per cent in the December quarter, while import prices were up just 0.2 per cent. Overall export prices were boosted by coal, iron ore, gas, metals, sugars and fuel, while there was broad weakness in import prices with only fuel prices rising modestly.

ABS PRODUCER PRICE INDEX

Due: Friday

Period: March quarter

Market forecast:

Last result: Producer prices rose 0.5 per cent in the December quarter, confirming the message of weak consumer price inflation data earlier in the week. The annual rate of inflation by this measure rose to 0.7 per cent, from 0.5 per cent over the year to the September quarter.
